Mellösaverken offers different kinds of spaces for visual artists, craftspeople, woodworkers and designers who are looking for more than just walls and ceilings. Here we offer:

- Opportunities for meetings and exchange with other creative workers, without interference in your work

We welcome those who want to work professionally on their projects, whether you are looking for a permanent workplace or a temporary space for a specific production. Here you can work in a historic environment - and at the same time become part of a growing community.

If you are working in one of our spaces and need to stay over, you have the opportunity to rent our furnished one room apartment. It fits to 3 people with a kitchen for cooking your own food. Even those who do not rent a workspace can contact us for overnight stays, but our artists have first dibs. Contact us with your request HERE, let us know both the number of people and which nights you are interested in and we will get back to you with a price.

In the immediate area there is a 24/7 automated shop and a café so you can land in Mellösa for a short period without to much preparation.all the major stores are in nearby Katrineholm or Eskilstuna for more specialized supplies. Those who do not have access to a car can easily stay in Mellösaverken because we have our own busstop. The bus takes you to Flen and the train station or Hälleforsnäs.

Since 2022, Mellösaverken has been active in the field of arts and crafts. We like to say that we didn't leave the city to isolate ourselves, we think the world should come to Mellösa. Within Mellösaverken Headspace, we offer space for artists to work for periods ranging from 10 days to 6 months. 

We do not require interaction from the visiting artists but offer the opportunity to get to know the local area and what it has to offer. This has resulted in a variety of social opportunities for both local people and colleagues to meet our resident artists. Most have come from Sweden, but we have also had artists from Ukraine, France, USA, Canada and Russia. 

The funding for this varies. Most of the costs in terms of labor are borne by Mellösaverken, as part of developing this place. The artists have in turn been funded by IASPIS, the Swedish Arts Council, SWAN - Swedish Artists in Residency Network, Region Sörmland and the Estrid Ericson Foundation.
